Guitar Assessment
Book 1
Are you ready to record?! Make sure you can play everything as perfectly as you can and when you are ready you can record.
You are free to film your performance in any location that suits you – whether it’s at home, school, your teacher’s studio, or a hall – as long as it’s a quiet space with the necessary instrument or performance props. You may collaborate with anyone you choose for your video recording, whether it’s family, friends, your teacher, or others. Feel free to ask for help with filming, playing accompaniment or backing tracks, and organising your exam setup. If you enjoy performing in front of a live audience, you can even have a small group behind the camera!
Please ensure that you disable HD settings, or choose the lowest available HD option, on your device before you start recording. High definition is not required for your exam and will create files that are too large to upload. You can record your video in either mp4 or mov format.
Here's what you will need to record for this level:
1. A short introduction to the camera including your name, age and teacher's name.
2. Name at least 3 parts of the guitar and name the strings.
3. Perform any 3 pieces from either of these publications:
-
Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1
-
Rock School Debut Acoustic
-
Guitar for kids book 1
Notes for performance:
-
A metronome or backing tracks may be used to keep time
-
Posture and left hand position will be noted. (Are fingers correctly placed?)
-
RH played with fingers not the thumb, or a pick if that has been used in class
4. Chords - D, A7, G, Em & Am strummed in a 4 beat rhythm.
When you have completed this recorded save and upload the video file below along with your details and payment below.
