Keyboard Assessment
Book 3
Are you ready to record?! Make sure you can play everything as perfectly as you can and when you are ready you can record.
You are free to film your performance in any location that suits you – whether it’s at home, school, your teacher’s studio, or a hall – as long as it’s a quiet space with the necessary instrument or performance props. You may collaborate with anyone you choose for your video recording, whether it’s family, friends, your teacher, or others. Feel free to ask for help with filming, playing accompaniment or backing tracks, and organising your exam setup. If you enjoy performing in front of a live audience, you can even have a small group behind the camera!
Please ensure that you disable HD settings, or choose the lowest available HD option, on your device before you start recording. High definition is not required for your exam and will create files that are too large to upload. You can record your video in either mp4 or mov format.
Here's what you will need to record for this level:
1. A short introduction to camera including your name, age and teacher's name.
2. Perform three (3) pieces from Progressive Keyboard Book 3. You may choose any piece, but each piece must include:
- Both hands together playing.
- You must demonstrate you can change sounds and styles as required (not required for piano). Please ensure your sounds and styles suit the piece you are playing.
- You must use intros and endings (not required for piano).
3. Complete the C Major and A minor (harmonic) scales.
Keyboard students:
Right hand plays the scale, one octave ascending and descending.
Left hand plays suitable chords to accompany; C major scale should include chord C major, F major, G major. A minor should include Am, Dm, E major chords.
Piano students:
Right hand and left hand play both scales together, one octave ascending and descending using an appropriate rhythm.
