Due to the ongoing threat of Covid-19 and the uncertainty of if and how other examinations boards are currently working we are seeking to give everyone the opportunity to sit INTERNAL examinations right here at Octave8 Music Academy. This year (2020) Octave8 are offering all students grading at the level they would normally be working towards. Next year we will revisit the viability of reopening our AMEB and Trinity College entrances.

Octave8 will be holding examinations in piano, digital keyboard, guitar (acoustic), vocals and drum kit during weeks 8 and 9 of term 4 (30 Nov - 12 Dec). Examinations will be held at your location for convenience and gradings will be assessed by our internal team of examiners.

Each level will vary in terms of amount of pieces to be performed as well as the number of technical exercises but broadly speaking each exam will generally contain the following requirements:

• Main performance pieces (minimum of 3 contrasting pieces)

​

• Technical work (scales, arpeggios, chords, sight reading or improvisation)

​

• Aural Awareness (identifying musical concept via sound) 

​

As we are conducting examinations here at Octave8 we are able to offer these at a discounted rate compared to our usual external options. Once completed each student receives a report back from the examiner and, if successful, a certificate showing the level achieved.
