Could You Be An Inspiring Music Teacher?

Playing Piano

Octave8 Music Academy is a contemporary music school based at several locations around South West Sydney and Sydney Eastern Suburbs. We offer expert tuition in Digital Keyboard/Piano, Guitar, Vocals and Drums to students from Primary age (5+) to adult. We also offer professional music therapy via the NDIS and privately and HSC coaching.

We are always interested in meeting potential new teachers so if you would like to become a music teacher/private tutor please get in touch!

We offer our teachers a great working environment, a competitive hourly rate, a friendly like minded team and regular training. We hold student concerts throughout the year, Rock School, AMEB, Trinity and internal examinations and have incentive schemes for students including performance medals and special prizes for excellence. Our aim is to offer above average music education at a convenient time (after school), at an affordable cost to school students and adults in Sydney.

A lot of qualities make a great studio based tutor but the most essential for us are….

1. An excellent natural musician (can read music but also play without).

2. A brilliant communicator (be able to clearly teach what you know).

3. Enthusiasm ! (You are excited about what you are doing!)

We need a really keen and switched on musician and/or aspiring teacher (at least 18 yrs old) or a newly qualified music graduate wishing to kick start their music industry career or an experienced teacher looking for some additional work.

New teachers would commence employment at 3-4 hours work per week minimum during term time at the start but we are expanding the academy rapidly so this will grow along with the enthusiasm and dedication of the chosen teacher. Most exceptional teachers are on 10+ hours per week.

Grade 6 (or similar standard) is required for the majority of teaching at the Academy. Senior teachers will teach higher graded students. Any experience with examinations would be highly regarded but not necessarily needed as training can be provided.
